Air Force Band - District Brass
This video features District Brass, a brass quintet that is a part of the United States Air Force Ceremonial Band in Washington DC. Throughout the video, they talk about their jobs and performances as musicians and play some beautiful music.
The Ceremonial Brass includes 38 active-duty Airmen who play brass and percussion instruments. The band provides musical support for funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, arrivals for foreign heads of state at the White House and Pentagon, patriotic programs, and change of command, retirement, and awards ceremonies.
District Brass was formed to perform for young audiences and believes in the importance of music to communicate across different cultures.
I really enjoyed this video. While this video is obviously geared toward and made for kids, it provides a lot of information about what it is like to be a member of the Ceremonial Brass. They talk about the kind of music they play at what times, as well as the significance of their job. They are amazing musicians, and their musicianship shines through on the music they chose to play. As someone whose primary goal is to be in a military band, this ensemble seems to be a pretty great and rewarding option.
